Hot day ahead, but Southern Belize could see thunderstorms by nightfall

Hot day ahead with inland highs near 95°F

By Belize Live News Staff:  Today’s forecast calls for a mix of sunshine and brief cloudy spells across most of the country, with very limited rainfall during the daytime. The warm and breezy weather is being driven by a moist easterly airflow pushing across Belize.

But while most areas will enjoy dry conditions during the day, the story could change later this evening. Meteorologist Crystal Rosalez reports that showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely to form tonight, especially in southern districts like Toledo and along the Maya Mountain range.

The mercury is expected to climb as high as 96°F inland, making today another scorcher for Cayo, Orange Walk, and western regions. Along the coast, highs will hover around 90°F, while hilly regions will see a milder 83°F.

Marine conditions will remain moderate with easterly winds between 10 and 20 knots and waves between 4 and 6 feet.

Residents in the south and foothill communities should prepare for possible nighttime rain, and drivers are advised to stay alert on wet rural roads after dark.

The weekend forecast continues to hint at intermittent showers in the south, while most of the country remains under fair to warm conditions heading into Friday night.
