By Belize Live News Staff: A father and son were shot in an ambush in Belize City on Tuesday night, leaving the son dead and the father injured, police said Wednesday.
The victims, Jaheim Fitzgibbon, 20, and his father Nimrod Fitzgibbon, 53, were repairing a van on an unnamed street off Lacroix Boulevard when an unknown assailant approached from behind and opened fire.
Jaheim Fitzgibbon was pronounced dead at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital shortly after the attack. His father remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the perpetrator. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
