By Belize Live News Staff: Two homes were damaged in an early morning fire on Hunters Lane, Belize City, shortly after 2:20 a.m. on Sunday.
Residents first noticed flames consuming an abandoned colonial two-storey wooden and cement house. The fire quickly spread to a nearby occupied cement home, owned by a man known only as “Leslie” and occupied by Jenna Leslie, 39.
Firefighters, led by Chief Gladstone Bucknor, managed to extinguish the blaze before it spread further. Though no one was injured, the abandoned house was completely destroyed, and the second home sustained heavy fire damage to its contents.
Investigators have reviewed the scene and canvassed the area for surveillance footage, but no solid leads have emerged. Police continue efforts to contact the homeowner to confirm whether the damaged house was insured.
