Gunmen open fire on young man in Belize City, victim critical

By Belize Live News Staff: A violent shooting this morning has left Coby Ledlon, 20, in critical condition after he was attacked by two gunmen on Iguana Street Extension in Belize City.

The incident occurred just after 10:30 a.m., when Ledlon was reportedly standing outside a residence. According to police, two men approached him, and without warning, one of them fired two bullets—one of which struck Ledlon in the head.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero stated that authorities believe the shooting may be connected to a long-standing feud between neighborhood factions. The motive has not been officially confirmed, but investigators are working with community sources to determine the shooters’ identities.

Ledlon is no stranger to law enforcement. He had previously served time after admitting guilt in a 2023 armed robbery case involving a local barbershop. His criminal history has fueled speculation about possible retaliation.

Police continue to canvas the area, and no arrests had been reported as of press time.
