Belize swelters under intense heatwave – But rain relief is near!

hot

By Belize Live News Staff: It’s a sizzling Sunday across Belize, with temperatures soaring past 100°F inland, leaving residents seeking any available shade or cooling relief. The coastal regions are slightly cooler, peaking at 88°F, but the dry air and minimal cloud cover make for an uncomfortably warm day nationwide.

The National Meteorological Service has issued a heat advisory, warning Belizeans of the dangers of heat exhaustion and dehydration. Officials urge everyone to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

While today’s weather remains mostly sunny and rain-free, a significant change is expected by tonight. The latest forecast indicates an increase in showers starting in the north and inland regions, with rain spreading across Belize by Monday morning. There’s also a low chance of thunderstorms, which could help bring cooler temperatures and end the relentless heatwave.

Looking ahead, Monday’s forecast promises cloudy spells and scattered showers across the country, offering a welcome break from the scorching conditions. Belizeans are advised to prepare for potential overnight rainfall while still taking necessary precautions against today’s extreme heat.

If you’re out and about, remember to carry water, wear sunscreen, and seek shelter from the blistering sun. The heat may be at its peak, but relief is on the horizon!
