By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, has embarked on a two-day tour of the irregular border crossing areas in northern Belize, focusing on security concerns and operational effectiveness. During his visit, Commissioner Williams is meeting with officers assigned to Northern Operations to discuss challenges on the ground and explore ways to enhance law enforcement strategies.
The tour comes as cartel activity intensifies in neighboring Chetumal, Mexico. Authorities are reassessing their security objectives to ensure Belize’s borders remain secure and that no vulnerable areas are left exposed to potential spillover effects. A key priority remains targeting local Belizeans known to have cartel associations, with law enforcement committed to disrupting illicit activities that pose a threat to national security.
Commissioner Williams is accompanied by key members of law enforcement leadership, including ACP Alford Grinage, Commander of Operations; Sr. Supt. Christopher Noble, Northern Regional Commander; Supt. Aaron Gamboa, Officer Commanding Special Patrol Unit (SPU); ASP Marciano Mejia, Officer Commanding Major Investigations Unit (MIU); and Inspector Jamin Cassanova, Officer Commanding the High-Intensity Team (HIT).
The police department is reinforcing its commitment to proactive measures and strengthening collaboration with officers on the front lines.
