By Belize Live News Staff: Tragedy struck in Belize City today after the body of a 5-year-old boy was discovered washed up along the shoreline near the hangar area.
Reports indicate that the child had snuck out of school unnoticed, walked to the area, removed his clothes, and went for a swim. Sadly, what began as an innocent act ended in disaster when he failed to resurface.
Police were called to the scene, where they retrieved the child’s body from the water. Shortly after, teachers from the school arrived, followed by the boy’s distraught relatives, including his grandmother and uncles.
Authorities have not yet released the child’s identity as investigations continue. The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about school supervision and child safety, prompting questions about how the boy was able to leave school without being noticed.
