Shots fired at Police during high-speed pursuit in Roaring Creek

By Belize Live News Staff: Police were involved in a late-night pursuit on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, in Roaring Creek Village that ended with gunfire and a crash after suspects evaded capture. The incident began at around 11:45 p.m. when two officers identified two men on a motorcycle near Tim’s Shop on the George Price Highway. The pair matched descriptions of suspects linked to an earlier shooting in the Another World area, where four 9mm shell casings were recovered.

When officers attempted to intercept the motorcycle, the suspects made a U-turn and fled. The high-speed chase continued onto an unnamed street near Yax Naah Store, also referred to as Chun’s Store. During the pursuit, one of the suspects allegedly fired at the pursuing officers, forcing the police vehicle to brake abruptly and veer into a ditch. The suspects fled the scene.

No additional shell casings were recovered at the crash site. However, police later detained one of the men recognized during the chase. Investigations into the incident and the suspects’ potential involvement in the earlier shooting are ongoing.
