Three men injured in New Year’s Day shooting in Belize City

By Belize Live News Staff: Three men were injured in a shooting early Wednesday morning on Linda Vista Street, Belize City. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m., with the victims later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The injured were identified as 18-year-old Anwar Smith of Set Site, 22-year-old Jody Ortiz of Western Pines, and Dennis Aranda. All three sustained graze wounds.

Police investigations reveal the men were socializing in a yard on Linda Vista Street when a white car, traveling from La Croix Boulevard toward the George Price Highway, approached. Shots were fired from the vehicle’s front passenger side, striking the men.

A Crime Scene Technician processed the scene, recovering several expended shells. While neighbors were interviewed, no useful information has been uncovered so far.

Authorities continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward to assist in solving the case.
