By Belize Live News Staff: Authorities are investigating a suspicious roadblock on Progresso Road, where large branches were deliberately placed across the roadway, raising fears of potential criminal activity such as robbery or drug-related motives.
The incident was reported late Monday night, prompting immediate checks by police officers. Upon arrival, officers found six trees cut with a chainsaw and used to obstruct the road just before the Little Belize Junction with Sarteneja Road.
No individuals were found in the area, and vehicles were still able to pass through the obstruction. However, the deliberate nature of the act has led to concerns among residents and travelers. Police have increased patrols in the vicinity, suspecting the roadblock may have been set up to divert or trap vehicles.
Officials are urging anyone traveling in the area to exercise caution and report suspicious activity as investigations continue.
