By Belize Live News Staff: On Sunday, December 15, 2024, at approximately 4:50 AM, police responded to a burglary report at Smokeez Restaurant, located on Seashore Drive in Belize City. The establishment had been broken into, and several items were reported stolen.
According to the restaurant’s owner, he received a call from a neighbor at around 4:39 AM, alerting him that the alarm at his business was sounding. Upon arriving at the scene, the owner discovered that various liquor bottles had been placed on a table in the dining area. He also noticed that one of the awning windows on the north side of the bar had been pried open, providing access to the intruder.
Further inspection revealed that a laptop and three tablets were missing from the bar area. Investigators determined that the establishment had not been properly secured, which allowed the intruder to gain access by crossing a chain-link barrier at the entrance. From there, the burglar pried open the northern awning window to enter the bar and kitchen areas.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify those responsible for the burglary.
