Government of Belize and UNICEF partner for inclusive future

By Belize Live News Staff: On World Human Rights Day, the Ministry of Human Development and UNICEF announced the development of a groundbreaking Situational Analysis on Children with Disabilities. This initiative aligns with Belize’s commitment to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the National Disabilities Act.

The analysis will address data gaps, identify barriers to inclusion, and guide policies to empower the 5,631 children with disabilities identified in the 2022 Census. It will include consultations with children, families, and stakeholders to ensure their voices shape actionable solutions.

Minister Dolores Balderamos Garcia emphasized the government’s dedication, calling inclusion a necessity, while UNICEF Representative Alison Parker highlighted data’s transformative power in creating targeted, impactful programs.

This effort aims to build a Belize where every child is seen, counted, and included.
