Belize weather takes a turn: Cold front ushers in rain and thunderstorms

By Belize Live News Staff: After a sunny start to the day, Belize is now bracing for the arrival of a cold front that is expected to bring widespread rain and thunderstorms across the country. The National Meteorological Service has issued a forecast detailing the shift in weather patterns.

Earlier today, residents enjoyed generally fair conditions with sunny skies and warm temperatures. However, as the day progresses, cloudy skies will become more prevalent, increasing the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the later hours.

This change in weather is attributed to the approaching cold front, which is predicted to bring more persistent rain and isolated thunderstorms throughout Wednesday. While today’s temperatures peaked at a comfortable 85°F (29°C) along the coast and 87°F (31°C) inland, cooler conditions are anticipated following the passage of the cold front.

The unsettled weather is expected to persist through Wednesday night, with a chance of showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms affecting most areas. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and stay informed about weather updates.

Despite the shift in weather, marine conditions remain moderate, with easterly winds blowing at 5-15 knots and waves reaching 4-6 feet. However, mariners should exercise caution as conditions could change with the approaching front.

The National Meteorological Service will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to the public. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions and prepare for the possibility of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in the coming days.
