29-year-old man dies in San Felipe motorcycle accident, alcohol suspected

By Belize Live News Staff: A fatal motorcycle accident in the Orange Walk District claimed the life of a 29-year-old man on Saturday night, adding to a growing number of road fatalities involving motorcyclists in the country.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero, the accident occurred in San Felipe Village, where police discovered the lifeless body of Elias Cowo beside his heavily damaged motorcycle. Initial reports suggest that Cowo lost control of his vehicle, which caused him to crash onto the road, sustaining fatal injuries. Police confirmed that Cowo was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time, which may have been a contributing factor in the accident.

Police are urging the public to exercise caution and refrain from driving under the influence, as recent incidents highlight the heightened risk for motorcyclists who drive while impaired.

Authorities are expected to continue their investigation into the accident.
