NOTICE: Xunantunich archaeological reserve operational, ferry service restored

Institute of Archaeology confirms sites open, urges caution for visitors

By Belize Live News Staff: As of 6:15 a.m. on September 19, 2024, the Xunantunich Archaeological Reserve has resumed normal operations, with the ferry service now functioning to allow up to four vehicles to cross at a time.

Additionally, all other archaeological reserves and cave sites in Belize are open to the public.

The Institute of Archaeology (IA) and the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH) are actively monitoring the situation and will issue updates if necessary.
