By Belize Live News Staff: Rising river levels have forced the temporary closure of water-related tours at two of Belize’s most popular archaeological sites: the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave and the Nohoch Che’en Archaeological Reserve.
The Institute of Archaeology issued a notice early this morning, August 26, 2024, advising the public of the suspension. While all other archaeological reserves remain open, visitors are reminded to exercise caution and follow the guidance of tour guides and park officials.
The IA is committed to ensuring the safety of all visitors and will continue to monitor the situation closely. Updates on the reopening of water tours at the affected sites will be provided as soon as conditions allow.
