By Belize Live News Staff: Released dancehall star Vybz Kartel has announced plans to visit Belize in the next few weeks, according to a video posted by the Instagram account ‘Hip Hop Belize’.
In the video, Kartel says, “Belize! Yeah man, me a forward a Belize…eena di next bout two or three weeks,” describing the trip as a “Baecation.”
While the trip is unlikely to include any concerts, it coincides with Belize’s September Celebrations, raising the possibility of an appearance at Carnival.
Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was recently released from prison after the Jamaica Court of Appeal ruled against a retrial on a murder charge. He and three associates were accused of murdering another associate over a decade ago, but the case collapsed due to juror misconduct. The Privy Council ruled earlier this year that this fatally prejudiced the result.
Kartel’s visit is expected to draw attention, particularly given his recent release and the timing of his trip.
