“I nuh have sir”: motorcyclist charged on Philip Goldson Highway

Insurance

By Belize Live News Staff: A routine highway stop in Orange Walk ended with a young rider facing three charges and losing his motorcycle to the impound lot.

Police say officers patrolling the Philip Goldson Highway on Tuesday morning pulled over 23 year old Adrain Francisco Che of August Pine Ridge after he was seen acting suspiciously as he approached the police vehicle on a black Honda motorcycle.

He could not produce a driver’s licence, and when asked for the motorcycle’s papers, he told officers he did not have them.

Che was taken to the Orange Walk Police Station, where he was informed of his rights and signed an acknowledgement form. The motorcycle, bearing licence plate M4188, was impounded.

He was charged later that day with driving without a licence, using an unlicensed motor vehicle and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance.

Police are reminding motorists and motorcycle riders that a valid licence, registration and insurance are required by law, and vehicles found without them can be impounded.
