By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s tourism industry is set to gain a new connection to Europe following the announcement that Discover Airlines will launch seasonal service from Frankfurt, Germany, to Belize City in December 2027.
According to the Belize Tourism Board, the new flights will begin December 16, 2027, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays until mid-April 2028.
The announcement marks an important development for Belize’s efforts to attract visitors beyond its traditional North American markets.
Frankfurt is one of Europe’s major international aviation hubs, providing connections for travelers from Germany and other European countries.
Discover Airlines, a leisure airline within the Lufthansa Group, will offer travelers access to Belize through its wider airline network.
Tourism Minister Anthony Mahler said expanding Belize’s presence in Europe remains a major priority.
He noted that the new service will help showcase Belize’s Barrier Reef, islands, rainforests, ancient Maya sites and cultural attractions to a broader international audience.
The timing of the flights is particularly significant, as the service will operate during Belize’s winter tourism season, when many European travelers seek warmer destinations.
The new connection could benefit tourism businesses across the country, including coastal resorts, jungle lodges, tour operators and transportation providers.
The Belize Tourism Board says it looks forward to working with Discover Airlines and industry stakeholders to increase European visitation and strengthen Belize’s international tourism profile.
