By Belize Live News Staff: Green ribbons, handprints and a message of hope.
That was the spirit as the Ministry of Health and Wellness hosted its World Mental Health Day walkathon in Belize City this week, starting from ITVET.
The walk is part of a wider effort to get Belizeans talking openly about mental health and to reduce the stigma that often keeps people from seeking help.
World Mental Health Day falls on Saturday, October 10, under the theme “Lived experiences heard: Real voices, real change.” The focus is on giving a platform to those who have experienced mental health challenges and turning their stories into meaningful change.
Mental health affects everyone, from students and workers to parents and seniors. Checking in on yourself and the people around you can make a real difference.
If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out to a trusted person, a health professional or your nearest health centre for support.
