By Belize Live News Staff: Trying to avoid the police did not work out for one Orange Walk man.
Officers patrolling Staines Alley on Tuesday evening noticed a man on a bicycle coming out of a yard. As soon as he saw the police vehicle, he dropped his head.
That caught the officers’ attention.
They ordered him to stop and searched him. Police say his right hand was clenched shut, and inside they found a small piece of suspected crack cocaine.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the drug was weighed at 0.1 grams and sealed in his presence.
Abimael Godinez, 36, a laborer of Bautista Street, Orange Walk Town, was charged with possession of controlled drugs. He chose to remain silent when cautioned.
He was granted police bail and is due in court today.
