Briceño dismisses talk of cracks in the PUP

By Belize Live News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño says the People’s United Party remains united, despite talk of internal division.

Speaking on his political future, Briceño acknowledged that disagreements happen from time to time within the party, but insisted they have not weakened the PUP’s unity.

He made the comments while confirming that he plans to lead the party into the 2030 general election, a move that would see him seek a third consecutive term.

Briceño says he believes the PUP still commands the confidence of Belizeans.

The announcement settles one of the biggest questions in Belizean politics. With the PM staying on, any leadership ambitions within the party will have to wait.

The next general election is due by 2030.
