By Belize Live News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño has met with the National Garifuna Council to discuss issues affecting the Garifuna people.
In a post on Monday, the Prime Minister said land rights were among the concerns raised during the meeting.
Briceño said his administration remains committed to upholding the rights of indigenous peoples and protecting Garifuna culture and heritage.
He described that heritage as an invaluable part of the fabric of Belizean identity.
Details of what was agreed at the meeting have not yet been released.
