By Belize Live News Staff: Travelling from Guyana to Saudi Arabia just got a lot easier.
Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that Guyanese passport holders can now get a visa on arrival or an electronic visa for Saudi Arabia, without first holding a valid US, UK or Schengen visa.
Before this change, Guyanese travellers needed one of those visas in their passport to qualify. That requirement has now been dropped.
Guyana says it is now the only country in South America whose citizens enjoy this privilege.
The ministry credited deepening ties between the two countries, including cooperation in trade, investment and tourism.
Guyanese travelling for Umrah, tourism or to visit family will no longer need to go through an agent or an embassy. They will only need their passport and the visa fee.
The Guyanese Government says it will keep working to upgrade its machine readable passports to meet global standards.
