By Belize Live News Staff: Twenty six years after Shyne announced himself to the world, the Belizean star is still celebrating.
Shyne Barrow marked the anniversary of his debut album with an event at the Brooklyn Public Library, joined by fans and Belizean Americans celebrating Independence season in New York.
Released on September 26, 2000, the album earned platinum certification. His follow up, Godfather Buried Alive, came in 2004 and went gold.
Barrow’s career later shifted to public service, including his time as Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives.
His music legacy continues to be recognized. Earlier this year, he was named a 2026 Global Ambassador Honoree at the Caribbean Music Awards, and he launched his “2622 LGND” tour.
Note: I left out “Grammy award winning.” As far as I know, Shyne has not won a Grammy, so worth verifying before publishing.
