By Belize Live News Staff: Opposition Leader Tracy Panton wants the Prime Minister to call on Belize’s allies to publicly support the country when he speaks at the United Nations General Assembly this morning.
Panton said allies should strengthen regional security cooperation and stand ready to act if Guatemala escalates.
She said diplomacy is essential, but it must be firm and backed by action. According to Panton, Belize cannot be asked to rely on appeals for restraint while facing threats at its borders and within its airspace.
Panton recalled her Independence Day address, where she called for mutual respect between countries in a hemisphere declared a Zone of Peace. She said Belizeans have remained steadfast and the Government must now sound the alarm on the global stage.
