By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans should keep their umbrellas close today as moist and unstable conditions continue to support showers and thunderstorms across the country.
The National Meteorological Service says skies will be mostly cloudy with some sunny breaks today, becoming cloudy at times tonight.
A few showers, thunderstorms and periods of light rain are expected mainly along coastal and offshore areas early today. By midday, that activity is forecast to develop across the country.
Tonight, showers and thunderstorms should become generally isolated, although a few more could develop along some coastal areas later.
Temperatures will reach around 85 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 92 degrees inland and 78 degrees in the hills.
Marine conditions will feature light and variable winds becoming east to southeast at 5 to 10 knots. Waves will range from one to four feet.
Saturday will remain cloudy at times, with generally isolated showers and thunderstorms. A few more are possible along the coast Saturday morning and mainly over southern Belize Saturday night.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Fay and Tropical Storm Gonzalo are being monitored in the Atlantic. Forecasters stress that neither system poses a threat to Belize.
