By Belize Live News Staff: Keep the umbrella nearby today as showers and thunderstorms are expected to spread across Belize during the afternoon.
According to the National Meteorological Service, moist and relatively unstable conditions continue to influence the country following the Independence Day holiday.
Coastal communities and areas offshore could see a few showers and isolated thunderstorms this morning.
By this afternoon, the activity is expected to spread around the country, including inland areas.
Despite the rain chances, it will remain hot. Inland temperatures are forecast to climb to 94 degrees Fahrenheit, while the coast will reach around 89 degrees. The hills will be cooler at approximately 80 degrees.
Tonight, showers and isolated thunderstorms will linger mainly offshore and over coastal areas.
Wednesday is expected to bring more cloudy spells, along with a few showers and thunderstorms around the country.
Tropical Storm Fay was located about 570 miles southwest of the Azores early this morning with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. The system poses no threat to Belize.
