By Belize Live News Staff: A teacher from Independence Village has asked police to pursue court action after reporting a violent confrontation inside her bedroom.
The 27-year-old woman told police that a man she knew entered the room without permission shortly after 2:00am on Sunday.
She alleges that he pushed her against a window and held her around the neck, face, shoulders and chest.
The woman said her face was left swollen and bruised and that she was in pain after the attack.
She also told investigators that the man threatened to kill her during the incident.
Four glass louvers were reportedly broken.
A doctor later classified her injuries as harm.
Police detained a 38-year-old man from Independence Village as the investigation continues.
