By Belize Live News Staff: Two men are in police custody following a violent robbery at a business in Bella Vista Village on Sunday evening.
Police say two masked men entered 87 Store shortly after 6:00pm.
One of the suspects allegedly pointed a firearm at the proprietor while the other went behind the counter and took money from the cash register.
The robbers reportedly escaped with around $6,000, a Glock 43 handgun and three cell phones.
The businessman told police he was also kicked in the face and struck in the head with a firearm during the attack.
He was later examined by a doctor, who classified his injuries as harm.
Investigators reviewed and obtained video footage from the store.
A 20-year-old man from Independence Village and a 35-year-old man from Bella Vista Village were subsequently detained as police continue investigating.
