By Belize Live News Staff: An early morning police patrol in San Pedro resulted in a traffic charge after officers stopped a motorcyclist in the DFC area.
Police say the incident occurred at around 1:15 a.m. on Friday when officers saw a man riding a blue and black Honda motorcycle.
The rider was stopped and asked to produce his driver’s licence.
According to the police report, the man said his licence was at home but had already expired.
The rider was identified as 21 year old Joshua Lopez.
Police checked the motorcycle and found that both its insurance and vehicle licence were valid.
Lopez was escorted to the San Pedro Police Station, where he was informed of his rights.
He was later formally charged with driving a motor vehicle without a valid Belize driver’s licence.
The matter is expected to proceed through the court system.
