By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Coast Guard Special Operations Group has won the Belize Defence Force March and Shoot Competition 2026, beating 15 other teams.
The format explains why the win means something.
Competitors marched nine miles in combat load from the Burrell Boom Bridge to the Hattieville Gallery Range. Then, legs burning and heart rate up, they went straight into a timed shooting phase.
Marksmanship is difficult enough on a still morning at a range. Doing it after nine miles under weight is a different exercise entirely, which is exactly the point.
Sixteen teams competed, drawn from the BDF, the Coast Guard and the Belize Police Department.
CSOG took first.
The Coast Guard also praised its First Fleet team for how they represented the service, and thanked the BDF for hosting.
Congratulations to CSOG.
Who would you back next year?
