Small craft caution as tropical wave brings showers to Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service has issued a small craft caution as a weak tropical wave brings relatively moist and unstable conditions over Belize.

Gusty winds and locally rough seas are expected near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Operators of small craft are advised to exercise caution.

Today will be sunny with cloudy spells and cloudy at times tonight. A few showers and thunderstorms will affect most areas this morning, especially southern and central portions of the country, with shower activity becoming isolated this afternoon.

Tonight, a few showers or thunderstorms will develop mainly over the south.

Inland temperatures will reach 93 degrees Fahrenheit before dropping to 74 overnight. The coast reaches 88 with a low of 81, while the hills stay at 80 and fall to 68.

Winds will blow from the east at 10 to 15 knots with a light chop and waves of 2 to 4 feet.

Thursday brings partly cloudy skies with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms mostly over the south.

An area of low pressure near the Cabo Verde islands is likely to become a tropical depression but poses no threat to Belize.
