By Belize Live News Staff: An armed robbery in Independence Village on Saturday afternoon fell apart quickly, and a wallet left behind on the shop floor is part of the reason.
Police say two men barged into a shop on Big Creek Road around 2:30pm. One drew a 9mm pistol and demanded cash. The other grabbed the cash register pan.
They left in an SUV heading toward Belize City.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a wallet on the floor containing a social security card and other personal items.
Information moved fast from there. G13 personnel were alerted and stopped both suspects at the junction of George Town Village, still with an undisclosed amount of money on them.
Both are in custody. Police are continuing their investigation and no charges have been laid so far.
Fast police work, or a very bad day for the robbers?
