By Belize Live News Staff: A quiet Saturday evening at New River Park in Guinea Grass Village turned violent for a 25 year old driver who says he was attacked for no reason at all.
Police say the man was sitting under a shed around 5:18pm, browsing his phone, when three men pulled up on one motorcycle with a bag of beer. He kept scrolling. He had no issue with anyone, he told police.
Then came the punch to his left eye.
He stood up in pain and saw a man in a yellow shirt he had grown up with in the same village. The man squared up and told him to fight. The other two just watched.
The driver told police he does not talk to the man because he considers him problematic. He walked away, got on his motorcycle and left, then went to the Guinea Grass Sub Station to make a report.
A doctor certified the injury as harm.
Idair Alberto Linares, 22, a construction worker of the village, has been arrested and charged.
Have things gotten out of hand at New River Park?
