By Belize Live News Staff: Whoever chose the hiding spot put real thought into it. An electrical box, cemented into the wall of an abandoned Trial Farm house, the kind of fixture a casual eye slides right past. On Saturday, a police search did not slide past it.
The Belize Police Department reports that officers searched an abandoned house and lot in the village between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Inside the house, tucked within the wall-mounted electrical box, sat a transparent bag holding a black ammunition box, and inside that, twelve gold-coloured 9mm rounds.
Nobody was around to explain the wall’s secret, so the ammunition made the trip to the Trial Farm Police Station, where it was sealed, labelled, and logged as found property. No arrests, and the matter stays under police attention.
Keep the district’s running score in view. Two weeks ago it was 27 rounds, a magazine, and suspected cannabis under a sponge on the Palmar Road. Days later, five kilos of suspected cannabis behind tree roots in August Pine Ridge. Now a dozen rounds sealed into a wall. The north’s abandoned buildings and bushy corners keep giving up their secrets, and the police keep finding the doors.
The calibre invites its own quiet notice, 9mm, the same as the shells that rained on San Antonio Road in the drive-by, though police have linked nothing and this page will not either. What can be said plainly: twelve fewer rounds are circulating tonight than were hidden this morning.
