Wet morning ahead for Belize as unstable weather lingers

By Belize Live News Staff: Moist and unstable conditions are continuing across the country, and the National Meteorological Service says skies will be cloudy at times both today and tonight. A few showers and thunderstorms are set to move through most areas this morning, before easing up during the afternoon. Come tonight, the Toledo District can expect showers and thunderstorms to develop, while isolated showers remain possible in other parts of the country.

It will be a warm one despite the rain. Along the coast, temperatures will peak at 88 degrees Fahrenheit (31 Celsius) before dipping to 82 (28 Celsius). Inland communities will feel the heat the most, reaching 92 degrees Fahrenheit (33 Celsius) and falling to 74 (23 Celsius), while the hills stay more comfortable with a high of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 Celsius) and a low of 68 (20 Celsius).

On the water, easterly winds will blow at 10 to 20 knots, with moderate seas and waves of 4 to 6 feet. A small craft caution has been issued, as gusty winds and locally rough seas are expected near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Anyone operating a small craft is asked to exercise caution.

There is reassuring news on the tropical side, with no tropical cyclone formation expected anywhere in the region over the next 48 hours.

The unsettled pattern carries into Wednesday, when skies will be partly cloudy with generally isolated showers or thunderstorms during the day. A few more are likely over the southern districts on Wednesday night.

As for the tides, low tides fall at 12:03 PM and 11:12 PM today, with a high tide at 5:59 PM and another high at 5:30 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:19 AM and sets this evening at 6:30 PM. This forecast was prepared by forecaster Derrick Rudon.
