By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s emergency management officials are urging residents to stay alert as flooding concerns increase across several regions of the country.
A flood alert remains in effect for central and southern Belize following days of persistent rainfall that have saturated the ground and raised concerns about additional flooding.
One of the most significant impacts reported so far is at Soldier Creek Bridge, where floodwaters have made the crossing unsafe for small vehicles.
Officials have also identified flood debris along portions of the Hummingbird Highway, highlighting the dangers that motorists may encounter while traveling through affected areas.
The National Hydrological Service has warned that urban flooding is likely in central and southern coastal areas as well as parts of the northern districts if rainfall continues.
Authorities caution that flooding can develop quickly and without warning, especially in communities located near waterways and drainage systems.
Residents are being encouraged to stay informed through official updates from NEMO, the Hydrology Unit, and the National Meteorological Service.
With additional rainfall forecast over the coming days, emergency agencies say preparedness and vigilance remain essential as Belize navigates another period of unsettled weather conditions.
