By Belize Live News Staff: A focused traffic enforcement operation conducted by the Orange Walk Road Policing Unit resulted in eight traffic violation tickets being issued after officers inspected hundreds of vehicles.
The checkpoint was carried out on Guinea Grass Road on Friday evening and targeted a range of offences including illegal immigration, firearm possession, drug trafficking and traffic violations.
Police say approximately 200 vehicles passed through the checkpoint during the three-and-a-half-hour operation.
While no major criminal arrests were reported, officers issued eight traffic citations to motorists found in violation of traffic regulations.
Law enforcement officials say these operations play a critical role in reducing crime, improving road safety and identifying individuals involved in illegal activities.
The Orange Walk Road Policing Unit has pledged to continue conducting checkpoints and patrols throughout the district as part of its broader strategy to protect residents and maintain public safety.
Police are also reminding motorists to ensure that their vehicles are properly licensed, insured and operated in accordance with Belize’s traffic laws to avoid penalties during future operations.
