By Belize Live News Staff: Residents in several parts of Belize may want to keep umbrellas close at hand as forecasters continue to monitor an unstable weather pattern affecting the country.
The National Meteorological Service reports that cloudy conditions will prevail at times today, accompanied by scattered showers and thunderstorms. Central and northern Belize are expected to experience the bulk of the rainfall activity this morning before conditions gradually improve. However, the chance for thunderstorms will remain, particularly across inland communities this afternoon and southern areas later tonight.
Despite the unsettled weather, forecasters are not anticipating any tropical cyclone development in the region over the next two days, providing some reassurance as the country moves further into the rainy season.
Marine conditions remain moderate, with winds from the east-southeast reaching up to 20 knots and sea conditions producing waves between four and six feet. Boaters are encouraged to exercise caution, especially during periods of thunderstorm activity.
The forecast for Tuesday calls for continued cloudy spells and generally isolated showers or thunderstorms, suggesting a gradual easing of the current wet pattern while maintaining the possibility of brief periods of rainfall.
