Ministry of Home Affairs Announces New Leadership at the Belize Central Prison
By GOB Press Office: The Ministry of Home Affairs and Enterprise, together with the Board of Directors of the Kolbe Foundation, hereby announces a change in leadership at the Belize Central Prison.
On May 19, 2026, Mr. Virgilio Murillo, Chief Executive Officer Emeritus of the Kolbe Foundation, officially handed over leadership responsibilities to Mr. George Gomez. This transition marks the successful completion of a four-month transition process for the position of Chief Executive Officer at the Belize Central Prison.
Mr. George Gomez was formally installed as CEO of the Kolbe Foundation by the Board of Directors on May 19, 2026. He expressed his passion for leading the correctional facility, working with the dedicated staff of the Kolbe Foundation, and advancing efforts aimed at the rehabilitation of inmates and their successful reintegration into society.
The Board of Directors and the Ministry also commended Mr. Virgilio Murillo for his steadfast and visionary leadership over the past twenty-four years. During his tenure as CEO, Mr. Murillo played a pivotal role in the transformation of the Belize Central Prison through the mission and vision of the Kolbe Foundation.
Mr. Murillo will continue to serve as Special Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Kolbe Foundation.
