By Belize Live News Staff: Soca fans packed the Brooklyn Public Library this week for a private screening of Machel Montano’s new documentary, Journey of a Soca King… Like A Boss.
The documentary highlights the life, music career and cultural influence of the Trinidadian superstar widely known as the “Soca King.”
Among those reacting to the screening was former UDP Leader and entertainer Moses “Shyne” Barrow, who praised Montano on social media and described him as “the Michael Jackson of the Caribbean.”
Shyne also reflected on Montano’s long-standing relationship with Belize, saying the soca icon has consistently gone beyond performing by engaging with local youth and musicians whenever he visits the country.
The documentary explores Montano’s rise to international fame while also focusing on his efforts to inspire communities through music, dance and mentorship.
Journey of a Soca King… Like A Boss is scheduled to begin streaming on Amazon on May 29.
