By Belize Live News Staff: A state of public emergency is now in effect in several parts of Belize City and surrounding Belize District communities following the publication of a new statutory instrument on Friday.
According to the official proclamation, the emergency declaration was made after authorities determined that ongoing criminal threats and violent activities posed a danger to public safety in the affected areas.
The measure applies to several neighborhoods across Belize City, including designated Southside and Northside zones, as well as communities in Belize Rural and Ladyville.
The proclamation gives law enforcement additional authority during the emergency period as officials intensify efforts to address crime and gang-related violence.
Government officials say the state of emergency is part of a broader strategy to restore order and improve public safety in communities impacted by ongoing criminal activity.
