By Belize Live News Staff: It looked like a police operation, but it was anything but official.
Belize City police have charged two men after they allegedly carried out a robbery while dressed like law enforcement officers. The suspects, Kenroy Amani Daly and Ahkeem Rashawn Danderson, are accused of using camouflage uniforms and firearms to intimidate a shop attendant during a hold-up on Daly Street.
The incident unfolded just after 6:00 p.m. when the victim reported that two “officers” entered the store, pointed guns, and demanded money. One suspect reportedly went straight behind the counter, making himself quite at home while grabbing cash and vapes.
Their plan, however, unraveled quickly. Police responded to the scene and detained both men, recovering two firearms and loaded magazines.
Authorities have since charged both men with robbery and impersonating an officer, while Daly faces an additional charge of aggravated assault.
In short, if you’re going to play dress-up, make sure it’s not as the police.
