By Belize Live News Staff: A routine day at a Belize Defence Force camp turned tragic on Tuesday when a young volunteer suddenly collapsed and later died.
Jaime Glenn Garcia, just 25 years old, was at a booth inside the BDF camp along with two fellow soldiers when things took a sudden and alarming turn. According to initial reports, Garcia began gasping for breath before collapsing to the ground and losing consciousness.
Those around him acted quickly. CPR was immediately performed in an attempt to revive him before he was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital.
But despite those efforts, Garcia was pronounced dead on arrival at 1:25 pm.
Police who responded to the hospital say there were no visible signs of injury on his body, and at this time, no foul play is suspected. Investigators also noted that Garcia had no known medical history, leaving questions about what may have caused the sudden medical emergency.
Authorities later visited the BDF camp where the incident occurred. The scene was processed and documented as part of the ongoing investigation.
For now, Garcia’s body remains at the Northern Regional Hospital morgue, where a postmortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.
His sudden passing has left those who knew him in shock, a reminder of how quickly life can change without warning.
Investigations remain ongoing.
