By Belize Live News Staff: A growing dispute surrounding the Stake Bank development in Belize has drawn the attention of the United States Congress after Congressman Brian Mast formally raised concerns with the U.S. State Department.
The issue centers on claims by the Feinstein family regarding the acquisition of Stake Bank Island, a project that has been the subject of ongoing legal and investment disputes in Belize.
Congressman Mast, who chairs the House Foreign Affairs Committee, sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio requesting an assessment of the situation. In the letter, Mast noted that concerns have been raised regarding the rule of law in Belize and potential implications for U.S. strategic interests, American investments, and bilateral relations.
Mast also asked the State Department to evaluate whether recent investor disputes involving compulsory land acquisition pose risks to American businesses operating in Belize.
