Hundreds of vehicles inspected during Orange Walk traffic sweep

By Belize Live News Staff: A 26-year-old businessman has been issued a Notice of Intended Prosecution following an early morning collision that left two police officers injured.

The incident took place at a vehicular checkpoint at Guinea Grass Junction on February 21.

Police say the driver of a black SUV failed to exercise due care and attention while passing through the checkpoint, accelerating and turning into two officers on duty.

Both PC Eduardo Perez and PC Raul Juchim sustained injuries and were transported to hospital.

The driver admitted fault and agreed to settle the matter outside of court.

The scene was processed, and the vehicle was photographed by Scenes of Crime personnel. Investigations remain ongoing.
