By Belize Live News Staff: The Office of the Prime Minister has announced that Prime Minister John Briceño has departed the country to attend the Fiftieth CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister left Belize on Sunday, February 22, 2026, and is expected to return on March 1, 2026.
Traveling with him are Foreign Affairs Minister Francis Fonseca, CEO Amalia Mai, and Ambassador to CARICOM Lawrence Sylvester.
In his absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, Cordel Hyde, will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
The CARICOM meeting is expected to address key regional issues affecting member states.
