By Belize Live News Staff: Police officers from Placencia and Seine Bight joined forces on Tuesday for a comprehensive predawn road policing operation at the Maya Beach Police Substation.
Between 5:00 AM and noon, officers conducted a Vehicular Check Point (V.C.P.) aimed at curbing traffic violations and disrupting criminal activity on the peninsula. The operation checked a total of 186 private motor vehicles, nine buses, and several cargo trucks and motorcycles.
The operation resulted in several enforcement actions:
Twelve violation tickets were issued for offenses including defective brake lights, unauthorized lighting, unsecured loads, and driving a class of vehicle not covered by a license.
One arrest was made involving a 23-year-old chef from Seine Bight Village. He was formally charged with driving without a valid license, using an unlicensed motor vehicle, and driving without third-party insurance.
Authorities state that these joint efforts are part of an ongoing strategy to target transient criminals and ensure road safety for all residents and visitors on the peninsula.
