By Belize Live News Staff: The Fisheries Department of Belize announced today the closure of the Florida Stone Crab fishing season from July 1st to September 30th, 2024. This closure is in accordance with the Fisheries Resources Act and Statutory Instrument No. 108 of 2022.
The department emphasized that any person or establishment found in possession of stone crabs during this closed season will face prosecution under the Fisheries Resources Act No. 7 of 2020.
The Fisheries Department encourages the public to report any illegal fishing activities by calling 224-4552 or emailing Fisheries_deparment@fisheries.gov.bz.
